Popdust favorite The Weeknd had his first live performance in his hometown of Toronto on Sunday. the 21-year-old singer also known as Abel Tesfaye took the stage at the Mod Club, performing tracks from his album House of Balloons before closing with “the Birds (Part 1).” Things were a little shaky to start, as the song’s percussion overpowers some of his signature vocals, but all in all a decent first performance. He’ll want to lose those nerves before next weekend’s OVO Fest, though, and of course by October, when his Number One fan/new BFF Drake will likely have him in tow while promoting the melancholy bravado-heavy disc take Care. the video quality isn’t the best but the song still rules.
