Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing sent the jackpot rising to a whopping $148 million, and made one Pennsylvania ticket worth $200,000.
Whether it was purchased in the Philadelphia area should be known later today.
It’s just the latest in a string of six-figure successes over the last week and a half in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, starting with windfalls Oct. 12 in Philadelphia and Willingboro.
The numbers drawn last night in Powerball were 16, 26, 35, 52 and 58, with a Powerball of 2. Tickets in Texas and Florida won $1 million each for matching the first five, while having the $1 Power Play multiplier option.
Come Jan. 15, when Powerball tickets go up to $2 each, such Power Play winners will get $2 million, and those matching the first numbers – like the Pennsylvania ticket – would get $1 million. (For more on the changes, go to http://bit.ly/qY98pe.)
